A Promise of Adventure

I am keeping my promise about having adventure in my life. I am now the proud owner of an Embark 4 person tent.  Chris suggested I go ahead and get a 4 person one so I would have room to put my stuff in it. I also got a Coleman one burner propane stove and two bottles of fuel so I can boil my morning tea water, or cook a simple one skillet meal if I want, a small metal pot to boil water in that has two thick plastic mugs inside it, an air mattress, with a pump, a padded ice chest that folds up for easy storage, and a colorful woven beach mat I can use outside the tent entrance. With the folding chairs, tables and other things I already had, I now have everything I need to go tent camping for a night, or two.

I did discover when checking out their website that all campsites at Guadalupe River State Park with water and electricity will be closed April - July this year for an urgent park utilities improvement project.  However, since I only intend to stay overnight, I will forego those for my first one night tent camping adventure.  I will take a couple of those nifty tube charges to keep my iPhone and iPad charged, and if necessary download the photographs when I get home. I can make Facebook and Blog posts though.  Once I have a couple of one nighters under my belt, I’m going to spend a couple of nights in places like Garner State Park that do have water and electric sites.

Before the month of May is over, I’m going to load my camping gear into SweetPea, pack the ice chests with plenty of food and drinks, and have at least one tent camping adventure.  Maybe two.  Each and every month thereafter I intend to plan at least one little adventure.  Whether it be tent camping, or something else, at least once a month I am going to spread my wings and fly a little.  I do not want to coast through life, I want to do things that amaze myself and allow me to appreciate each and every moment of this wonderful thing called life.
